SimNord Defies Takeover Attempt and Continues Development of Copenhagen Airport for MSFS

The developer SimNord continues to work on its own implementation of Copenhagen-Kastrup Airport (EKCH) for Microsoft Flight Simulator (MSFS).

This is despite an attempted takeover by a large but unnamed development company. This company, which reportedly employs 20 developers, offered SimNord to buy its previous work on EKCH and integrate it into its own project. The aim of the offer was apparently to prevent SimNord from further development and thus avoid “unnecessary competition”.

However, SimNord rejected the offer and is continuing its work “slowly but steadily”, as reported on its Facebook page. This means that in addition to the existing scenery and that of the unknown competitor, a third version of SimNord‘s EKCH for MSFS could appear in the future. Flight simulator enthusiasts can be excited to see which of the three implementations will ultimately come out on top.

SimNord (formerly Vidan Design), a Danish developer of flight simulator add-ons based in Aarhus, offers a range of sceneries on simMarket. The portfolio focuses in particular on numerous Danish airports

For the MSFS, SimNord offers sceneries from the airports of Aalborg (EKYT), Aarhus (EKAH), Billund (EKBI), Bornholm (EKRN), Sønderborg (EKSB) and smaller airfields such as Endelave (EKEL), Sindal (EKSN), Sæby (EKSA), Tunø (EK76), Nordborg (EKNB), Samsø (EKSS) and Herning (EKHG)

Various add-ons are also available for older simulators such as P3D and FSX, including sceneries for the airports of Aarhus, Billund, Aalborg, Bornholm and Sønderborg, as well as the product ranges “Danish Airfields X” and “Real Denmark X”, which cover various regions and smaller airfields in Denmark. Sceneries of the airports Billund and Aalborg are offered for X-Plane 11.
