The renowned developer DominicDesignTeam has released a completely revamped version of Indianapolis International Airport (KIND) for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020/24. Version 2.0 has been fundamentally redesigned and optimized after hundreds of development hours.
Indianapolis International Airport plays a crucial role in U.S. air traffic. As the second-largest FedEx Express hub worldwide – only surpassed by Memphis – it is of enormous importance for air freight. In 2020, it ranked 6th among the busiest cargo airports in the USA. The airport is located approximately 7 miles southwest of downtown Indianapolis, the capital of Indiana. Covering over 7,700 acres, the airport extends across multiple township boundaries.
Indianapolis itself, with over 880,000 residents, is Indiana’s largest city and an important economic and cultural center of the Midwest. The city is particularly famous for the Indianapolis 500 auto race and hosts numerous pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies.
DominicDesignTeam, a development team specializing in highly detailed airport sceneries, has focused particularly on accuracy and performance optimization in this redesign. The new version includes:
- PBR textures for photorealistic appearance
- Dynamic lighting
- Authentic ground markings
- Hand-crafted pavement textures with realistic wear and tear
- Custom jetways
- Animated passengers and airport vehicles
- Optimized LOD settings for better performance
The team has established a reputation for high-quality airport sceneries over the past years, with a particular focus on Asian and American airports. Their portfolio includes detailed recreations of airports such as Kansai International, Noi Bai International, and several major U.S. airports.
The new Indianapolis scenery is available for €19.50 (+VAT where applicable) and supports both MSFS2020 and the new 2024 version of the simulator. Owners of the previous version receive a free upgrade.
DominicDesignTeam has demonstrated their commitment to quality through continuous development of accurate airport representations. Their attention to detail is evident in their extensive portfolio, which includes numerous international airports across Asia and North America. Each project showcases their dedication to creating authentic flight simulation experiences, with Indianapolis International Airport being their latest achievement in maintaining these high standards.
The new release represents an important addition to the flight simulation community, particularly for those interested in North American aviation or cargo operations, given Indianapolis’s significance as a major FedEx hub. The attention to detail and performance optimization makes this scenery an valuable addition for both casual and serious flight simulation enthusiasts.
