PMDG 737-600NG Released in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024

PMDG has expanded its Next Generation lineup for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 with the release of the Boeing 737-600NG, the shortest and least common variant of the NG family.

At 102 feet (31.24 m) in length and paired with a 112 ft 7 in (32.32 m) wingspan, the -600 stands out visually within the 737 series. In real-world operations, the type was introduced as a modern replacement for the 737-500, targeting thinner routes that required jet performance and cargo capability without the capacity of larger narrowbodies.

Operational Niche in the NG Family

Compared to the -800 and -900 variants, the -600 offers:

  • Reduced seating capacity
  • Strong runway performance characteristics
  • Lower operating weight
  • Flexibility for secondary airports and short sectors

For virtual airline pilots and short-haul operators in MSFS 2024, the aircraft fills a specific niche: high-fidelity airline procedures in a more compact platform.

Product Positioning

Within PMDG’s 737NG series, the -600 represents the lowest entry price. The developer positions it as an accessible gateway into complex airliner simulation while maintaining system depth consistent with the rest of the NG lineup.

Owners of the 737-600 for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 are eligible for a 60% discount when upgrading to the MSFS 2024 version, provided the purchase is made through the same PMDG account.

The package includes 23 downloadable liveries, managed via PMDG’s Operations Center 3.0.

Marketplace and Upcoming Update

The aircraft has been submitted to the Microsoft Marketplace and will appear there once Microsoft’s intake process is complete.

PMDG has also indicated that a notable exterior model refinement is planned for the 737-600, alongside the -800 and -900 variants in MSFS 2024. The update is expected toward late February or early March and will be distributed free of charge.

With this release, PMDG continues the staged rollout of its NG fleet into Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, further strengthening the high-fidelity narrowbody segment on the platform.
