Dovetail’s rapid release schedule is hitting again, with both a Flight Simulator and Train Simulator add-on released within the last two days. The Train Sim add-on, to deal with that quickly, is the British “Midland Mainline” or, as usual, part of it – from London St. Pancras to Bedford. The 55 mile route can be found here. The FSX:SE addition, which will be of more interest to our readership is “Dangerous Approaches” by Jane Whittaker, featuring 30 “nail biting” missions – not just flight plans this time – requiring specific procedures to be followed in order to execute a safe…

The “Discover” series of packages by First Class Simulations have a stranglehold on the FSX Steam Edition available DLC right now and the latest, Discover Great Britain, has now been released, including a series of flights and a little Auster J.1 Autocrat, pictured above. You can find the package here at Steam for FSX:SE users only, or, for either Steam or DVD version FSX pilots, here at simMarket.
The sleek lines of the DB BR605 “ICE TD” are the latest release for Dovetail Games’ Train Simulator 2015, Germany’s latest inter-city diesel multiple unit joining no fewer than three of its predecessors in the collection. Also, on their Facebook page, Dovetail have announced that next week, they will release a TS2015 for open beta testing by existing customers. The details of the beta patch can be found by clicking on “Read more” below.
Dovetail Games have announced two releases today, one for Flight Simulator X: Steam Edition and one for Train Simulator 2015. The FSX:SE release is First Class Simulations’ Discover Arabia through Steam (also available for both SE and non-SE pilots here at simMarket), providing a SeaRey amphibian and a series of flights in the Middle East’s Arabian Peninsular, while TS2015 gets a budget loco through the Marketplace in the form of the British Rail 4MT.
On the FSX Steam Edition Facebook page, Dovetail Games have announced that a new update will be “coming soon” to the new update of the sim. “This update resolves several issues reported to us by the FSX: Steam Edition community and will be automatically applied to your software via the Steam platform once it’s released.” To see the full post including the list of fixes, you can visit the Facebook post here or, for those who’d rather avoid Facebook, a list of the fixes can be found by clicking “Read More”, below.
It’s hard to write about a new release of Microsoft Flight Simulator X, as if there was ever a topic that’s been beaten to death more than once, it’s a list of the advantages and flaws of the “final proper part of the MSFS franchise”. FSX is a title that refuses to die, though, well outlasting its successor like a classic aircraft that won’t go to the scrap merchant willingly and now re-released as the “Steam Version” by new franchise licensees Dovetail Games. What we have here isn’t really a “reboot”, “remaster”, or true successor to the venerable sim, however…
The latest route for Dovetail Games TS2015 has been released today; the primarily CSX and Amtrak operated Miami – West Palm Beach. Covering 70 miles of track and coming with a CSX Dash 8-40CW and an Amtrak P42DC locomotive with Silver Star passenger cars, the route allows you to drive up through the Florida sunshine and get away from the winter blues… if you don’t live somewhere that gets you away from those anyway! The route can be found here, on Steam, and is included in the current sale at 33% off until 2nd January.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ApqyUhPKV3o That original release trailer is still really cheesy and inappropriate, but over ten years after the release of Flight Sim 2004 A Century of Flight, we’re announcing the release of Microsoft Flight Simulator X… Hang on… Haven’t we done this before? Dovetail Games’ FSX: Steam Edition is basically the same as FSX Gold (FSX + Acceleration), but with minor updates to allow it to work on newer Microsoft Operating Systems and new multiplayer functionality to replace the defunct GameSpy system. It’s also worth picking it up quickly if you are going to, seeing as for the next 2 days (46 hours at…
