Now I know that every time we post something not directly related to Flight Simulation here, we get at least one complaint from someone that this is simFlight, not some general news site. However I want those people to stop and spare a thought here, because sometimes it’s worth reminding yourself that the aircraft we fly in the simulator and the things many of us do with them are replications of real aircraft and what real people do with them in the real world. Earlier today the Pearson family had the pleasure of a little trip down the M5 motorway,…

Our friends of simFlight Benelux enlightened a (German) poll about the Microsoft intentions to integrate a MarketPlace in the next MS Fligfht. This means all Flight add-ons would be found directly in-game but hosted/marketed by Microsoft themselves as well, raising simmers and expansions developers / publishers interrogations. Only 110 visitors have voted at the time I’m writing, so use google translator if necessary, but please add your vote on the Flight! – German – magazine website. Their magazin issues are for sale here.

Nemeth Designs noticed their Agusta 109 sales suddenly fell down when their new product appeared among torrents. Their manager felt it was necessary to suspend their operations until they find an efficient copyright protection to ensure enough incomes for the two full time developers they have. Read his sad message here. If the sales results were hit that hard, it’s not because there is somebody with no money who got it and never could afford it anyway, it’s mainly because some people would have paid but didn’t in this case.

Curious to see Aerosoft people when they pretend to work, or discover their international – and maps decorated – offices after they cleaned the desks, when they heard they would be photographed ? Mathijs Kok has some pictures on that topic, so you can recognize a few faces if you go to Flight Simulation meetings, often attended by Aerosoft among other companies and associations. Alejandro Diaz, you’re busted ‘de pana chamo’ ..

A guest editorial by William Ortis I wish to make known to the Flight Sim world and sim enthusiasts the work of a new pioneer in the realm of FS2004, the golden child of the Microsoft Flight Simulator franchise. First, let me set you up with the state of FS2004.  For years, developers of aircraft addons were trapped with the inability to make super fine models for FS2004.  The system had locks that kept one from being able to use high amounts of polygons, (65,000 polygons to be precise), as well as super small detailed parts, which a system called…

Could you define the difference between a dream and hope ? The following sounds like a dream although they want us to have hope ! At least, you can repeat it as a joke in your next family meeting. “The AirSimmer Team is proud to announce the release of the AirSimmer A320 Basic Edition Systems Update v1.3, available through the TabletPC. Issues fixed: AP/AT critical problem; many CTD’s & sounds bugs. New feature added: Full Systems Cockpit Saving.” Yes, the same were supposed to be fixed since v1.2. Developed for FS2004 A Century Of Flight, we have been simulating A…

If you’ve been around the FS sites recently, you’ve probably seen some advertisements or discussion of a “new” flight sim called, variously, “FlightProSim”, “FlightSimPro” or “Pro Flight Simulator”. It’s advertised as being a direct competitor for the existing mainstream flight simulation titles, with a number of quoted user testimonials, claims and statements.According to its own website, “This is the Game Flight Fans have Been Waiting for…” So is it? Well. That’s up to individuals to decide, of course, but before heading out and paying almost $50 for the product, you may wish to read this article at the wiki for…

Unfortunately being ridiculous is not lethal. If you have heard or read a little about some Flight Pro Sim, you wouldn’t think it is just the exact copy of FlightGear, the famous freeware and open-source flight simulator developed since 1996. But that’s the case here. If their homepage was not horrible enough to refrain you from loosing money, now you know you have a 60 days money back guarantee you should use. Download the original FlightGear for free instead. Spread the word and use FlightGear homepage URL to link about “‘this”, so Google does the rest of the job.

Hi folks, EagleSkinner here with a spot of news about a whole flock of Geese – and you won’t have to wait until Christmas, nor will you have to put a penny in the old man’s hat. The people I take my hat off to have released an update to the OzX version of the FSX default Goose. What? You haven’t heard of the OzX Goose HD Redux pack which adds two new versions of the Grumman Goose to your FSX setup? The Goose, which has not one, but a whole flock of excellent high resolution graphics and bumpmaps textures to FSX for your flying enjoyment – for free! Where have you been this past year?

Microsoft Flight is the new Live Cloud development from Microsoft announced on the eve of gamescom 2010.  As Miguel B states in an earlier post this seem to be the direction that Microsoft are taking with respect to Flight Simulation.  What next, I wonder – available only on X-Box?  There’s a really kitsch video presumably  featuring the voice of the ubiquitous Ms Patty Wagastaff who throughout this 15 second epic enunciates breathlessly, “I dreamed I could fly” plus a shadowy pin-up photo of the aforementioned (again presumably) Ms Wagstaff.  Nice images no substance.  Will this new strategy send a shiver through third party…
