Duxford (Imperial War Museum) reports that admission tickets are now available to buy online for the following Air Shows at IWM Duxford: the Spring Air Show, Sunday 16 May; The Battle of Britain Air Show, 4 and 5 September; and the Autumn Air Show, Sunday 10 October. VATSIM Germany is inviting pilots for a fly-in at Munich “…. …after the winter break and in the New Year to arrive and/or depart for 12hrs at one of the busiest airports in Europe. Do You want to know what it’s like to fly a Parallel Approach, to be “number 4 in sequence”, or like on a real flight to be handed over through many ATC facilities until reaching final flight level ?….”.

Preparations for Europe’s, and very likely the world’s, largest flight simulator show started this afternoon at the Aviodrome in Lelystad. As always the Aviodrome is host for many hundreds of enthusiastic hobbyists and quite a few commercial FS companies as well. All are showing the general public what ‘flightsimming’ is, in all its forms and varieties, amidst a wonderful ambiance of old and very old aircraft! Here are some pictures made by yours truly, while building the FSAddon booth and walking around the still empty ‘fair grounds’. That is going to be the FSAddon Publishing stand, aka Its Your Plane…

Terry Scanlan reports about the VATSIM World of Flight event. “…WorldFlight 2009, VATSIM’s premier seven day round the world event commences on Monday November 2nd at 00:01Z.  Seven full scale cockpit simulators will depart from Sydney [YSSY] and head off west to Perth and then onwards for seven days, 45 stops and 35,000nm raising money for charities around the world. The flights attract a huge following of other pilots that fly along with the WorldFlight Group [WFG], enjoying Air Traffic Control Services 24hrs a day for the seven days of the event. The WFG raised approximately USD43,000 for their charities…

Just a reminder for those of you living in Florida, or having the means to easily get there. Instead of going to the world’s biggest FS event, you could also visit the Roar ‘n Soar weekend on November 7 and 8, organised in Polk City, FL, on the premises of Kermit Week’s Fantasy of Flight airfield ! There’ll be fast cars, fast boats, and above all, vintage aircraft ! More  info here.
