Nord-Pas de Calais is the next release in the series of VFR v2 sceneries from FranceVFR. A simple way to describe them is to say that they are a VFR scenery on steroids! Rather than reinvent the wheel here is a bit of history on the region taken from my review of Nord-Pas de Calais back in August of 2010. The most northerly of the 22 regions that make up the country of France, Nord-Pas de Calais shares a border with Belgium to the east and a coastline with the English Channel along the north. It’s population is concentrated mostly…

FranceVFR’s latest adddition to its collection, released recently via their own webstore (French language) and now also available at simMarket (which may help the translation a little!) is version two of their Northern Brittany coverage, the North’West tip of France. Laid against a backdrop of their usual high-definition photorealistic ground textures, version 2 brings a summer only rendition of the region with a 4.75m mesh, covered over with dense autogen provided by the developers’ 3DAutomation® technology. Notable buildings are also recreated and included, plus water masks, textures and cut-outs are provided for those who prefer to explore the water as…

FranceVFR have just re-released their Alsace VFR scenery as V2. The scenery depicts the north-eastern corner of France known as the Alsace region. The coverage area is approximately 10,000 sq kms and includes some beautiful landscapes. Of the 26 regions it is the fourth smallest and has a population of just over 1.8 million inhabitants. The big differences are as a result of their new 3DAutomation® technology.

The new Autogen engine of France VFR, 3D Automation, has more innovative technical features  to demonstrate. When the source data are available, they can manage up to 24 types of vegetation, and then generate their density according to this type to enable more variated and realistic forests, but also to place aligned trees along some roads. Demonstrated here in the upcoming Alsace Photo HD scenery.

Haute-Normandie (Upper Normandy) is one of the 27 administrative regions in France and was formed very recently coming into existence in 1984 when Normandy was split into Lower and Upper Normandy. Upper Normandy is bordered by the English Channel to the north and then the regions of Picardy, Ile-de-France, Centre and Lower Normandy to the west, east and south. A few stats about the region: it has an area of 4,756 sq. mi with a population of 1.9 million people and the capitol city is Rouen. Haute Normandie is well known for several things: it is the number one center…
