Most people have heard of Frankfurt’s main airport, which apart from anything else used to be one of the busiest military airports in the world alongside the huge amounts of airliners, but it’s much smaller GA neighbour, Egelsbach, may well come as a surprise to many.

Opening as a grass strip in 1955, the airfield has gone from strength to strength over the years, gaining a hard surface in 1966 and these days is owned partially by  the “NetJets” Business Jet leasing company, who operate alongside the local Police helicopter and a number of flying schools and other GA aircraft.
