787-9 published. Horizon Simulations brings Dreamliner to MSFS and it’s free!

The Horizon Simulations Boeing 787-9 add-on introduces a multitude of impressive features aimed at delivering a realistic and immersive experience. The enhancements encompass various aspects of the aircraft, including the model, cockpit, lighting, sound, flight dynamics, and more.

To ensure accuracy, the exterior model has been updated to feature grime, dirt, and markings, replicating the real-world wear and tear. Additionally, the inclusion of SATCOM adds an extra touch of authenticity to the aircraft. The developers have also paid attention to finer details such as engine cowlings, fan blades, and window textures, resulting in a visually stunning representation of the 787-9.

The cockpit enhancements include correct engine displays based on engine type, an added Vbar option, and an improved electronic flight bag (EFB) with performance calculations and a doors page. The lighting system has been completely reworked, both externally and within the cabin, allowing for a more visually pleasing and realistic atmosphere during flights.

Sound enthusiasts will appreciate the new GEnx sound package, which further enriches the audio experience of the aircraft, adding an extra layer of immersion.

The flight model has undergone extensive reworking to match the performance and characteristics of the real Boeing 787-9. This includes improvements to fuel flow, taxi modeling, idle thrust, flap configuration, and drag/lift values. The developers have also introduced gear compression and tweaked wingflex and engine vibrations, ensuring a more accurate representation of the aircraft’s behaviour in-flight.

It comes with two engine options, both Rolls-Royce or General Electric GENx versions are available, complemented by SimBrief profiles for each, offered directly here:

In addition to the technical enhancements, the Horizon Simulations Boeing 787-9 add-on offers an extensive range of liveries to choose from, allowing users to customize their virtual aircraft to their preferences.

While the add-on has received overwhelming positive feedback from users, a few minor issues have been reported, such as nose-up difficulties during takeoff, GSX push-back inconsistencies, and occasional frame rate drops. However, the development team has assured users that they are actively investigating and addressing these concerns to provide a smoother and more enjoyable experience.

The Horizon Simulations Boeing 787-9 add-on is available for download flightsim.to or directly via the Headwind Installer. It is worth noting that this add-on requires the Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 Premium Deluxe Edition.
