Flight Sim Coach LLC has launched a free 10-week online ground school course designed specifically for flight simulation enthusiasts. The course, which starts on September 7, 2024, aims to provide a realistic and accessible introduction to aviation concepts. Led by experienced flight instructors and retired airline pilots, this course is tailored for virtual pilots who want to deepen their understanding of aviation or for real-world student pilots and certified pilots looking for a refresher.
The course offers a comprehensive overview of private pilot-level topics through weekly live-streamed classes that combine whiteboard instruction, slideshow presentations, and simulator demonstrations using popular platforms like X-Plane and Microsoft Flight Simulator (MSFS). No personal simulator is required, making the course accessible to anyone interested in aviation. The content is specifically designed to meet the needs of the flight sim community, offering practical insights from industry veterans like Emerson Allen, a retired airline captain with over 28,000 flight hours.
Flight Sim Coach is also planning to release a more extensive version of the course later this year, which will offer deeper coverage of each topic. This initiative reflects the company’s broader mission to enhance pilot training quality and accessibility through the use of desktop flight simulators. Founded in 2021, Flight Sim Coach connects pilots and flight sim enthusiasts with Certified Flight Instructors for remote coaching, and has been featured by major aviation organizations and publications.
