Two Regional Airfields near Ottawa and the Rideau Lake
NetDesign expands Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024’s Canadian landscape with two small but characterful regional destinations in Ontario. Focused on atmosphere and local aviation activity, these airfields highlight the charm of community airports surrounded by forests, farmland, and waterways.
The first location is Kars Rideau Valley Air Park, located south of Ottawa along the Rideau River corridor. The airpark sits within the quiet rural landscape of eastern Ontario, where small aircraft operations blend with open farmland and wooded surroundings. The scenery recreates the airfield with detailed local structures, accurate ground layout, and textures that reflect the character of a community-focused aviation hub.
The second destination is Westport Airport, positioned near the village of Westport at the northern edge of the Rideau Lakes region. This airfield provides a scenic gateway to lakes, forests, and cottage country, making it particularly appealing for short general aviation flights and exploratory routes across southeastern Ontario.
Both airports emphasize authenticity and immersion, with carefully crafted environments, realistic ground layouts, and crisp textures designed to capture the distinctive atmosphere of Canadian regional aviation. The sceneries are optimized for smooth performance while preserving the visual detail expected in MSFS2024.
