The Dutch FS Weekend 2009

Preparations for Europe’s, and very likely the world’s, largest flight simulator show started this afternoon at the Aviodrome in Lelystad. As always the Aviodrome is host for many hundreds of enthusiastic hobbyists and quite a few commercial FS companies as well. All are showing the general public what ‘flightsimming’ is, in all its forms and varieties, amidst a wonderful ambiance of old and very old aircraft! Here are some pictures made by yours truly, while building the FSAddon booth and walking around the still empty ‘fair grounds’.

That is going to be the FSAddon Publishing stand, aka Its Your Plane stand, aka simFlight stand, aka FSLabs stand….. since I’m involved in so many things and companies….. oh, and we give away simMarket bags, if you’re interested !

Clearly visible on this picture is the unexpected invasion of  our display space by some bunch of flightsimmers pretending to be the KLM Dutch Airlines. I hear they are going to fly all through the night on Friday and Saturday…. pitty, now I don’t have a chance of pushing them towards the toilets and get my space back.

Read more about this in the ‘Mystery of the Lost VA’, soon in this bookshop.

A shot from behind, still a lot of work to do. Looking towards the reception desk and entrance. My neighbours are PC Pilot, like every year.

Notice in the fast approaching darkness and just behind the rental van, a DC-2 ! Flanked by a DC-3. How cool is that ? Must go out for a bit tomorrow to get you some better pics.

People are assembling entire cockpits for this show. Only to be disassembed again 48 hours later. Urghs ! I wish I had one in my office… wouldn’t mind taking it a bit longer to build than 4 hours !

Will be full of fanatic air controllers and virtual (networked) pilots tomorrow, and hopefully bristling with visitors again!

One of the hobbyists rooms. Here’s you’ll find IVAO, a group of Belgian clubs, Rob Cappers with his DC-2 !

Our Belgian friends seem to have bought the inventory of an entire garden centre. They all have these nice garden tents. Good idea actually !

Well, more news when we have it… hope to see you there tomorrow !!!
