Thanks to ourDutch colleagues at simFlight.nl for spotting this one: Freeware, open-source, flight simulator Flightgear has been updated and released at version 2.6.

Flightgear has come a long way from where it began and, while it may not have the same resources and finances available to it that the commercial developers have, what it does have is a dedicated and resourceful following.

Of course, as the sim is free to use – and modify yourself if you wish – then what’s the harm in taking a look? Visit the Flightgear website for full information and to download.
