Just Flight has officially announced a new general aviation aircraft for X-Plane 12, confirming that the classic Cessna 152 is currently in development in partnership with Thranda Design.
Following the recent updates across their PA-28 fleet, the development team is now shifting focus to the C152, a widely recognized training aircraft that remains a cornerstone of real-world flight schools and general aviation operations. The upcoming release aims to bring this iconic two-seat trainer to X-Plane 12 with a significant level of visual and systems refinement.
According to the announcement, the aircraft will feature completely updated 8K textures for both the interior and exterior models, alongside improved physically based rendering (PBR) materials designed to take advantage of X-Plane 12’s lighting engine. New lighting effects are also being introduced throughout the cockpit and exterior environment.
Flight dynamics are being reworked with input from a real-world C152 pilot, an approach intended to capture the aircraft’s distinctive handling characteristics during training maneuvers, pattern work, and short cross-country flights.
Another major component of the package is the integration of Thranda’s modern cockpit EFB tablet. The interface will provide aircraft configuration controls, interactive checklists, and an integrated weight and balance manager, consolidating many operational tasks into a single in-cockpit system.
The EFB will also include Thranda’s Dynamic Livery system, allowing pilots to create and apply custom paint schemes directly within the simulator environment without requiring external repaint tools.
Early screenshots have been released alongside the announcement, with Just Flight indicating that additional development updates and details will be shared in the coming weeks as the project progresses toward release.
