Scott Gentile of A2A Simulations has announced the release of the latest FSX add-on from their “Aircraft Factory” line – the WW2 Luftwaffe Heinkel He219 “Uhu” (Owl) Night Fighter.
Although not the most numerous, famous or most important German aircraft of the war, its lack of effectiveness was not due to the design, but due to politics and a lack of parts (particularly powerful enough engines) limiting the number of airframes available. Nevertheless, it proved a good, if slightly less than optimal, night bomber interceptor and versions without the drag-inducing radar array on the nose were a significant risk for even the RAF’s Mosquito raiders.
