iniBuilds continues to share progress on their highly anticipated A340 Airliner for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, this time with a deep dive into systems and flight model work, led by Mike, Head of Aircraft Development at iniBuilds and a commercial pilot with over 20 years of real-world experience.
Following the visual update last week, this second development post highlights refinements inspired by community feedback, new technical features, and a look at how the aircraft will feel to operate in MSFS 2024.
Highlights from the update include:
- Flight Model & Handling: Built from the ground up with MSFS 2024’s latest aerodynamic systems, including accurate fuselage and engine pod aerodynamics, improved crosswind behavior, realistic ground handling, and custom flap/slat simulation. Expect authentic underpowered A340 performance, with slow climbs and careful tail-strike-sensitive rotations.
- Systems Depth: Full suite of custom hydraulic, electrical, and FMS systems. Features include autosave with expanded options, MORA display on the ND, ACARS/DCDU integration, and cabin temperature simulation with multiple zones.
- Cockpit & Avionics: Work-in-progress EIS1 cockpit with authentic CRT-style low-res displays, functional standby attitude indicator caging, Para-Visual Indicator (PVI), and differences faithfully modelled between EIS1 and EIS2 logic.
- Immersion Features: Emergency slide deployment tied to door logic, GSX integration via the EFB, wipeable rain effects, and a fully functional onboard printer for flight plans, weather, and performance data.
The iniBuilds A340-300 is shaping up to be a feature-rich long-hauler with an uncompromising focus on realism, offering both technical accuracy and immersive details.
