SkyCatsLab ATR 72-600 Development Progress – New Cockpit Previews in X-Plane 12

SkyCatsLab has shared fresh previews from the development of their ATR 72-600 aircraft for X-Plane 12, offering an updated look at the cockpit in both daytime and nighttime conditions. The team posted new screenshots showing detailed lighting, textures, and instrumentation inside the flight deck — all clearly marked as Work In Progress but already displaying an impressive level of fidelity.

According to the latest developer update, the cockpit interior is now 99% complete, with most aircraft systems already functional and under active testing. The development team reports 95% readiness for the systems planned for the initial release, alongside 99% completion of the lighting system and 90% for the sound package. The external 3D model is still being refined, with PBR HD textures in progress, while the passenger cabin interior remains to be developed.

SkyCatsLab confirms that test builds are currently being evaluated by their chief pilot and several real-world ATR 72 pilots, who are verifying the flight model, system behavior, and navigation functions. With an estimated release date set for 2026, this ATR 72-600 project continues to show steady and promising progress for X-Plane users awaiting a high-quality regional turboprop simulation.

SkyCatsLab — already well known to Microsoft Flight Simulator users for its CoPilot series, including the CoPilot for Fenix A320 MSFS20 and CoPilot for PMDG 737-800 MSFS20 available at SIMMARKET — is now expanding its expertise into full aircraft development with the ATR 72-600 for X-Plane 12. This marks a major step forward for the developer, transitioning from advanced assistance tools to a complete, high-fidelity aircraft simulation that aims to deliver an authentic turboprop experience for X-Plane users.
