miniCockpit Shares Update on Their Upcoming Airbus Overhead Panel – miniOVHD

miniCockpit, well-known among flight simulation enthusiasts for their miniFCU and miniEFIS hardware designed for Airbus flight decks in MSFS, and X-Plane, has shared a fresh update on their much-anticipated miniOVHD overhead device.

The team announced a slight delay in production, caused by an unexpected but fascinating challenge: achieving authentic dual-layer button labeling, just like in the real aircraft. On the genuine Airbus overhead panel, the upper half of the pushbutton label is only visible when illuminated, while the lower half remains visible at all times — a level of realism that miniCockpit wanted to reproduce perfectly.

According to miniCockpit, this technical hurdle took an extra three weeks of focused engineering, but they’ve now found an elegant solution and are thrilled with the result.

The first mass production batch of the miniOVHD is now almost ready, marking a major step toward release.

“We spent an extra 3 weeks obsessing over the labels on the push buttons to get them perfect… This was a major technical hurdle, but our brilliant engineer found an incredible solution!” miniCockpit wrote in their latest update.

With attention to detail and authentic Airbus feel, the miniOVHD looks set to become the next essential hardware addition for Airbus sim pilots seeking full realism in their home cockpits.
