Barelli Addons returns with another major European hub—this time bringing Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport (LHBP) into MSFS 2024 with a completely rebuilt, high-detail rendition tailored for the simulator’s new lighting, weather, and world rendering systems. As Hungary’s largest and busiest airport, Budapest serves as the primary gateway to Central and Eastern Europe, with major carriers including Wizz Air, Ryanair, Lufthansa, KLM, and Turkish Airlines operating extensive networks throughout Europe and beyond.

Budapest features two parallel runways, modernized terminal buildings (Terminals 2A and 2B), and a rapidly expanding cargo center highlighted by DHL, UPS, and several regional freight operators. Its continually evolving terminal infrastructure, along with the airport’s increasing long-haul presence—such as flights to Doha, Dubai, and seasonal transatlantic services—make it an important international node.

Barelli’s rendition brings Budapest to MSFS 2024 with custom terminal models, updated apron layouts, accurate taxiway designations, and enhanced night lighting—placing Budapest firmly among the better mid-to-large European airports currently available for the new simulator.

Airport Features

Barelli Addons’ Budapest is built to leverage MSFS 2024’s expanded visual engine and includes an impressive feature set:

• Fully custom airport buildings, including Terminal 2A/2B, the SkyCourt, Cargo City, and the new apron expansions
• Custom ground polygons, high-resolution PBR surfaces, and MSFS24-native material reflections
• Custom animated vehicles and airport-specific ground equipment
• Accurate runway, taxiway, and apron lighting, including LED taxiway centerline lights
• Detailed interior modeling visible through terminal glass
• 4K-resolution ground imagery with updated taxiway markings
• Custom night environment, including high-intensity apron floodlights
• Working VDGS (where applicable) and custom signs throughout the airfield
• Compatibility with AI traffic and mesh enhancements without requiring manual configuration

The airport integrates flawlessly with MSFS 2024’s new default terrain and World Hub data. Simmers using additional regional enhancements or AI packages will find LHBP blends smoothly without layering issues—a welcome advantage in a hub surrounded by expanding suburban development.

Modelling and Texturing

A close inspection of the terminal complex reveals that Barelli Addons invested considerable work into reproducing Budapest’s architectural signature. The SkyCourt terminal—one of the airport’s most recognizable elements—features accurate glass curvature, interior structural beams, and clean PBR reflections.

Barelli have also modeled:

• The extensive cargo zone, including DHL, TNT, UPS, and the modern Cargo City complex
• The new remote stands and taxiway expansions
• GA and maintenance hangars near the western side
• The Budapest Airport fire station and support buildings

Ground textures are crisp and true to real-world color tones, with weathered asphalt, rubber buildup, and accurate markings throughout the apron. The runway profiles include realistic elevation transitions, and PAPI/VASI systems are correctly aligned and fully functional.

Static and animated vehicles populate the stands, and Barelli’s custom ground handling equipment blends well with MSFS 2024’s native services and third-party addons. While not as ultra-granular as the top-tier mega-hub developers, the level of detail across the whole airfield is convincing and enhances immersion during both arrivals and departures.

Night lighting is one of the most favorable aspects of the scenery—apron floodlights cast believable diffusion and high intensity, the terminal windows glow warmly, and the runway/taxiway lighting fits MSFS24’s updated atmospheric rendering.

Final Feedback

As this is my first full native MSFS 2024 product review, this product is for flight simmers who are looking to fly into Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport in MSFS 2024. Barelli Addons delivers a well-rounded, polished, and visually engaging rendition of one of Central Europe’s most important airports. The developer has succeeded in capturing LHBP’s unique architecture, expansive cargo operations, and modernized terminal environment while fully leveraging the improved lighting and atmospheric engine of MSFS24.

Performance remains solid even in dense weather scenarios or with AI traffic active, making it an excellent choice for both short-haul European operations and long-haul connections to the Middle East and beyond.

As my first review concludes on Barelli Addons, from their product profile it seems that they are continuing to refine their craft. With a few key updates—such as jetway functionality, expanded GSX integration, and some optional configurator features—LHBP could easily reach “top-tier” status. As it stands, the scenery is already highly enjoyable, well-built, and a strong addition to the growing MSFS 2024 ecosystem.
