SimDesignsCo brings one of South America’s most distinctive urban airports to Microsoft Flight Simulator with its detailed recreation of Mariscal La Mar International Airport for MSFS2024, and also available for MSFS2020..
Located within the city of Cuenca at an elevation of more than 2,500 meters above sea level, SECU presents a unique operational environment. The airport sits directly within the urban fabric of the historic Andean city, surrounded by neighborhoods, hills, and mountain terrain. Arrivals require careful planning as aircraft descend through the Andean highlands before aligning with the runway set in the middle of the metropolitan area.
One of the defining characteristics of the airport is its noticeable runway slope on RWY 06/24, which creates a distinctive visual perspective during final approach. The scenery recreates this feature alongside accurate airport infrastructure, lighting systems, and ground layouts designed to reflect real-world operations.
In addition to the airport itself, several recognizable landmarks across Cuenca have been modeled to enhance the surrounding environment. These include the prominent blue domes of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception and the nearby Alejandro Serrano Aguilar Stadium, both visible during low-level approaches and city overflights.
High-quality PBR textures and dynamic lighting further contribute to the realism, helping recreate the atmosphere of this high-altitude Andean gateway in both daylight and evening conditions.
The scenery is available for both Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020.
