So, the question was what this dialog means for aviation history: ‘If you build it, I buy it! Ok, if you buy it, I build it’ Â and the explanation is that in the Summer of 1965 Juan Trippe, CEO of Pan American World Airlines and William Allen, president of Boeing were having this conversation about developing a large (read largest) airliner. The result of their chat was to become the Boeing 747 Jumbo Jet, the largest aircraft to fly scheduled passenger flights for quite some decades.
