White Digital Simulations : MBS Intl, Michigan

WDS_KMBS_Michigan_preview

Former designer of Orbx team, Russ White founded White Digital Simulations where he’s already showing his skills and personal touch in MBS Internatioanl airport scenery.

The little airport of Freeland, Michigan, will make part of “The Great Lakes” collection and will feature his new HDX technology. Get prepared for highly detailed scenery and objects : Terminal internal preview, Trees preview and Grass and plants samples.

  1. While I can appreciate the details and artistic merit of modeling the inside of the terminal, I do not understand the need for it.

While some internal detail of the terminal is nice and immersive when we pull up to the gate in our virtual airplane, I think this is overkill.

Are we going to simulate checking our bags, getting over priced terrible coffee or something like that?

  2. I have to agree with altstiff. I can understand the need for realistic trees and grass, and for realistic terminals as viewed from the cockpit or from the outside when doing a walk-around. Everything else is indeed overkill.

  3. I tend to agree but…….. on the other hand, so was, it one time, an overkill to design airplane cabins or even virtual cockpits with working gauges (luscombe model by Bill Lyons, in FS98, if not mistaken). I’m curious to see what effect this has on fps.

  4. I agree with altstiff: what advantage do I have with an airport simulated like this but the only plane I can use is the default Cessna and the only airport I can take off is MBS itself due to the fact that loading any other scenario results in a OOM? I do not get it…

  5. Alex, those are part of the airplane, which is what we use to fly in a flight simulator. This seems more suited for an Airport Terminal Simulator. It’s very pretty and nice, but also extremely unnecessary.

  6. True! But this is also called “pushing the envelope”. Many simmers still argue that a cabin model isn’t required to fly an airplane. But many already love them, me included. As computers grow more powerful, so sceneries get more and more detailed. Who knows, perhaps in a couple of years you can actually enter the ops room and receive the weather briefing and flight plan and the airplane’s keys 😉 there.

Anyway, this one does look beautiful.
