Airport Overview
WFSS , one of Asia’s top scenery developers have recently released a new scenery in mainland China with their rendition of Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport located in People Republic of China located in East Asia. Guangzhou is a three-runway airport with almost 250 parking spots available around the airfield. This is not the first airport that WFSS has released in the region along with major international airports such as Beijing, Shanghai, and Hong Kong. WFSS are pioneers when it comes to Asian Airports and in particular with Guangzhou which is the busiest airport in China with almost 26 million passengers and over 265 thousand aircraft movements last year. This airport serves 197 destinations across 42 countries. Home to mainly 9 Air, China Southern Airlines, FedEx Express, Hainan Airlines and Shenzhen Airlines which are the most noticeable airlines present at this airport.
Airport Features
The WFSS product offers amazing features which take advantage of the latest P3D technologies such as PBR Textures, PBR Wet Effect(Can be turn off in the configurator), Animated Jetways.(SODE), VDGS(SODE), Dynamic Lights, manually planed vehicles in airport(Animated vehicles), Animated WindSock.(SODE), Low visibility Runway Lights, Real Ground Markings and a customized Scenery Configurator.
It would be nice to have an expanded, Mesh/Terrain product that could complement this scenery to give views of the fantastic approaches as the country of downtown Guangzhou which is located not too far from the airport with some amazing high rises and green landscapes.
Modelling and Texturing
After carefully examining the terminal and its features, WFSS have used high quality textures and have modelled all the major airport buildings with emphasis on high quality texturing and details of the apron.
Without a doubt, the modelling is of high P3D addon quality, the details included near the main terminal which shows that WFSS have put a lot of effort and work into the product and its features and noticeably on the ground markings and their effects which have a realistic effect (See Screenshot). have also included a variety of ground vehicles with amazingly high textures which have been placed around the parking positions features which go flawlessly along with any ground addon such as GSX.
Final Feedback
For Anyone who is looking to fly into Guangzhou in P3D. I would highly recommend WFSS version for the interesting routes, approaches and views that will be accompanied while landing. It shows that they have put extensive effort into their version whilst including all the major and important P3D features such as PBR, custom runway lighting system and Dynamic Lighting features. I look forward to the next release of the WFSS version now that P3D v5.4 and v6 are released. I hope that the team will push out and hope that they will be able to develop additional similar airports in this part of the region as there is a shortage in our current market for high quality Southeast Asian airports and it would be lovely to see major Asian airports get the WFSS treatment such as Manila, Kuala Lumpur and possibly Bangkok.
